Youth Introductory Rowing and Coxing

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

The introductory program is designed for atletes will little or no experience in the sport. Athletes will begin learning the basic mechanics of the rowing stroke using indoor rowing machines before progressing on the water in four and eight-person rowing shells or developmental singles as enrollment dictates.

Youth Introductory Sculling for Experienced Rowers

EXPERIENCED ROWERS ONLY

This is a short, intensive program is designed to teach experienced rowers the skills they will need to become proficient in sculling. The program is limited to 6 rowers and will be led by Senior Coach Travis Gardner, 3 time national champion sculler and coach of over a dozen national medalists in the discipline of sculling. Athletes will begin in developmental shells before transitioning to racing singles as the week progresses. By the end of the program athletes are expected to have developed the knowledge and confidence to further pursue their development independently in a racing single.

Youth Competitive Men's Rowing and Coxing

EXPERIENCED ATHLETES ONLY

For experienced rowers and coxswains seeking to compete in the local summer regatta circuit while developing their skills in big boats. Training will emphasize technical and physiological efficiency at high rates and developing fitness with low rates over long miles. Athletes are expected to enter this program with a high level of fitness. Tuition does not cover lodging and transportation for out of state competition, which will be assessed seperately to selected athletes. Practice times will shift from evening to morning once all athletes are out of school. At that time evening practice times will remain an option on select days for athletes wishing to add a second daily training session to their programme.

Note: Athletes will practice PM only while school is still in session. Once school is out of session practices will transition to the morning. Once this occurs AM sessions will be the priority and PM sessions will be supplementary when available.
